This work is also deeply personal to me. I’m committed to supporting purpose-driven organizations—including nonprofits, foundations, associations, and advocacy groups. I’m especially passionate about advancing racial justice, civil rights, LGBTQ+ equality, voting access, and community development. Matthew Kessler-Vaughn is a visionary leader with demonstrated experience driving organizational transformation, operational excellence, and sustainable growth and impact. Known for his ability to scale operations and foster innovation, he has guided organizations through major transitions, strengthening their capacity to achieve mission-aligned goals while navigating complex challenges. With nearly 28 years of experience in nonprofit leadership—including senior and executive-level roles—Matthew brings a deep understanding of the sector’s unique dynamics and a long-standing commitment to mission-driven impact.
Over the course of his career, Matthew has led organizations through strategic evolution, operational restructuring, and long-term capacity building as the most senior operations leader. He has developed and implemented capacity-building strategies, aligned operations with mission, and built high-performing, inclusive teams. His approach consistently results in greater clarity, efficiency, and resilience, enabling organizations to adapt, scale, and deliver measurable outcomes in a complex and ever-changing landscape.
Driven by his commitment to social impact and equity, Matthew founded KJ Consulting Group, a firm providing expert nonprofit consulting services in three core areas: Operational Strategy and Systems Optimization, Financial Sustainability and Strategic Risk Management, and Leadership and Workforce Capacity Building. The firm’s work is grounded in deep sector knowledge and guided by a belief that mission-driven organizations deserve mission-aligned support.
