Matthew Kessler-Vaughn is a strategic nonprofit leader with nearly 28 years of experience driving operational excellence, organizational transformation, and sustainable impact. Known for his ability to navigate complexity and lead through change, he has helped organizations strengthen their infrastructure, scale effectively, and align operations with mission during periods of growth and transition. His deep understanding of the nonprofit sector is rooted in decades of senior-level leadership across a wide range of organizational models and issue areas.
Throughout his career, Matthew has led organizations through strategic evolution, operational restructuring, and long-term capacity building as their most senior operations executive. He has designed and implemented strategies that build internal clarity, improve efficiency, and support high-performing, inclusive teams. His approach consistently equips organizations to adapt, scale, and deliver results in dynamic environments.
Motivated by a long-standing commitment to social impact and equity, Matthew founded KJ Consulting Group to provide high-level advisory support to mission-driven organizations. The firm’s work focuses on three interconnected areas: Operational Strategy and Systems Optimization, Financial Sustainability and Strategic Risk Management, and Leadership and Workforce Capacity Building. Every engagement is shaped by the unique realities, values, and goals of the organizations served.
