OPERATIONAL INSIGHT FOR SMALL, COMMUNITY-LED NONPROfits

KJ Consulting Group offers a limited number of pro bono Operational Insight engagements through several cycles each year for small nonprofits led by and serving historically marginalized communities. These short, focused engagements are designed to surface operational challenges and provide clear, senior-level guidance to strengthen internal systems, structure, and team coordination.

WHO this engagement is designed for

This opportunity is designed for small nonprofits that are:


  • Led by and serving historically marginalized communities
  • Operating with an annual budget under $1 million
  • Experiencing friction in day-to-day operations or navigating periods of growth
  • Open to reflecting on how internal systems and structures support the mission
  • Able to dedicate approximately 5 to 6 hours over a 4 to 6 week period
  • Willing to provide feedback and a testimonial, with optional visibility assets

whaT THIS ENGAGEMENT INCLUDES

Through this engagement, your team will take part in:


  • A focused review of current systems, structures, and workflows
  • A strategy conversation with leadership to explore operational priorities and areas of strain
  • A tailored Operational Insight Report summarizing 2 to 3 priority challenges and 3 to 5 recommendations grounded in your organizational context
  • A strategic debrief to help translate insight into practical next steps
  • An optional 60-minute follow-up conversation

HOW THE ENGAGEMENT WORKS

You’ll complete a brief intake form and share a small set of key organizational materials, such as an org chart, budget, or existing operations documentation. This creates a shared understanding of how work is currently structured and where strain may be showing up.

We’ll hold a focused strategy conversation with up to three members of your leadership team. This conversation surfaces operational bottlenecks, gaps in decision making, and areas where culture or structure may be creating friction.

You’ll receive a short, tailored report outlining 2 to 3 priority operational challenges, along with 3 to 5 practical recommendations and clear starting points grounded in your organizational context.

We’ll walk through the recommendations together, prioritize next steps, and reflect on how internal systems and structures can better support your team and mission.

Approximately one month later, you may choose to schedule a follow-up conversation to revisit the report, reflect on early progress, and talk through any new questions that have emerged.
